One two-month cruise through Australia is being halted following the death of an elderly woman who was abandoned by the vessel on a remote coastal location.

The passenger had been trekking on Lizard Island with other travelers from the Coral Adventurer, but broke off from the excursion for a break. The vessel departed without her and went back after some time after the personnel became aware the lady was unaccounted for.

An extensive hunt located her body the subsequent day.

Authorities are examining the tragedy, alongside police and the official investigator.

Chief Executive of the voyage organizer said that guests and crew on the Coral Adventurer were informed that the rest of the journey had been terminated due to the "tragic passing and prior mechanical issues".

Authorities also issued an updated statement, and said they had "provided a directive to the Commander" preventing any additional guests from getting on the ship.

The official said that they would attend the vessel in the Australian city upon its arrival.

The vessel initially left the coastal city on October 24th, and was just two days into the expedition at the point of the senior passenger's passing. The tropical location was the opening port on the voyage.

Passengers on the vessel - who usually pay large sums of money to participate in the voyage - were ferried there for a day trip with the choice of trekking or snorkeling.

Family Reaction

The child of the deceased woman said that her loved ones was "surprised and distressed that the liner left the island after an organised tour without my parent".

Via her announcement, she characterized her mother as an "vigorous octogenarian" who was a member of a bushwalking group.

"From the little details we have been informed, it seems that there was a lapse of responsibility and ordinary reasoning," she stated.

She added that she wished the inquiry would be able to identify what "the organization should have performed that might have preserved Her being".
